DIGIPAK RESEARCH: PHOTOSHOP AND CREATIVITY
EXPERIMENTAL PHOTOSHOP AND CREATIVITY FOR DIGIPAK
On the ongoing research into our digipak my group and I each experimented on Serif Photo Plus in order to see which filters and editing features which we could utilise. We aimed to stick with the use of pink/red hued filters to fit with the 'love' connotation and also to maintain an element of synergy from the digipak with the music video.
As a group we each attempted different shots of one of our main narrative characters and experimented with different editing techniques and filters. In order to have a proper go at this in preparation for our digipak final product, we researched tutorials on how to use some of the skills on Serif Photo Plus X5 and by watching these videos they enabled us to approach this research and planning task with confidence and knowledge on how to incorporate the correct editing tools.
I used the cutout tool to draw around the black background of the image with the font in order to layer a precise image of the title over a screenshotted image taken directly from the music video. By using the cut out tool i could layer the two images together and have the white font showing 'The Love Club' against the low key background.
By playing around with the filter editing options I was able to alternate the saturation, contrast and brightness of the image, creating shadows and emphasising her as opposed to the background of the image. By using a red and pink translucent filter we can maintain an element of synergy as the audience could recognise the redness of the digipak and link it to the music video, as well as revealing expectations of what the music is like; by having the digi pak show the setting in which the music video is set in it reveals and hints at the themes behind the album.
